OOM: Suite 134
Apr. 2nd, 2009 09:53 pmVeronica slouches low on the couch, ducking out of the range of Indy's back swing.
"Let me guess. Another strike."
She sighs and props her beer on her chest, holding it in place with her breasts and the low-cut V of her shirt.
"Big surprise. Glad we didn't put money down."

Date: 2009-04-06 02:11 am (UTC)The distraction strips Indy of all his poise and a tragic gutter ball results.
"Crap."
"Happy now?" he humphs as he turns around. There's a glint of amusement under the surface though. "I was gonna beat Mike's record."
no subject
Date: 2009-04-06 03:08 pm (UTC)"Happier," she allows.

Date: 2009-04-06 03:27 pm (UTC)"You'd better not forget this though. I lost the one chance I had at bragging rights for the sake of your happiness."
He sits down again and takes a conciliatory swig from his beer.

Date: 2009-04-06 03:37 pm (UTC)She takes a moment to stretch, leaning forward. Her spine is stiff from an afternoon of slouching.
"So... tennis? Or golf again, maybe?"
no subject
Date: 2009-04-06 03:50 pm (UTC)"Tennis," he then decrees, already moving through the menus to get the next sport ready to go. Seeing her stretch only concretes his decision. A game that involves a bit more activity should prevent her becoming a part of the furniture.
"Have a go on your own first. It takes a few games to get the timing down and figure out how to do the power serve."

Date: 2009-04-06 04:14 pm (UTC)Veronica gets to her feet and settles into a reasonably solid serving stance. Its dropped soon enough when, after a couple serves, she realizes that this game, too, is mostly about the wrist. Very quickly, she gets into a steady back-and-forth rhythm with the opposing computer-controlled players.
"So you've heard about how thrilling my life's been lately. What about you, what's the Indy update? Any action, adventure, romance?"
no subject
Date: 2009-04-06 04:48 pm (UTC)"Not much," he confesses. "Met an Irish gal called Fiona, in from Miami 2009. She's... um..." He seems to struggle a bit to find the right description. "She's a looker. And she's definitely a live wire. Likes a bit of action, far as I can tell."
"We've been hanging out a bit. She's a lot of fun."

Date: 2009-04-06 04:54 pm (UTC)One ball goes into the net, but on the next serve Veronica manages to perfect the timing, and fires off a glowing power serve. The match is tied up.
"So when do I get to judge -- I mean, meet -- this new woman?"
no subject
Date: 2009-04-06 05:14 pm (UTC)He realizes he's doing the equivalent of waving a red rag at a bull.
"But just in case you happen to cross paths, I wouldn't go as far as calling her the new woman yet. We're friends."
no subject
Date: 2009-04-06 05:32 pm (UTC)"I promise not to embarrass you when I inevitably track her down."
no subject
Date: 2009-04-06 05:46 pm (UTC)"I'm not ashamed as much as afraid. You can be very... thorough, when you're investigating stuff."
no subject
Date: 2009-04-07 02:49 am (UTC)She pauses before the next serve, and cocks her head to the side.
"Or maybe that's why I'm still single."
A shrug, and she returns to the game.

Date: 2009-04-07 02:25 pm (UTC)It comes across as a conversational follow up, not pointed in any way.

Date: 2009-04-07 02:38 pm (UTC)"Been a couple years.
"So what about the job? Reclaimed anything priceless or shiny recently?"
no subject
Date: 2009-04-07 03:02 pm (UTC)"Nope. Not since the Hovitos idol," he admits.
"I told you how it got stolen right out from under my nose after we recovered it, right?"
no subject
Date: 2009-04-07 03:16 pm (UTC)Game point, and that match is over. The crowd goes wild and Veronica grins in triumph.
Turning to Indy, "Why don't you tell me about it while I beat you?"
no subject
Date: 2009-04-07 03:26 pm (UTC)"I'm sure I told you. I guess it was before the time slip. And possibly when you were possessed?"
He shakes his head. "It got stolen from the opening night gala. I had to go to Brazil to get it back, and I needed some help from Meg and Ace. Explosive in the latter case. Ring any bells?"
no subject
Date: 2009-04-07 04:05 pm (UTC)On screen, Mii!Veronica swings her racket experimentally and looks tough.
"I'm sure you have difficulty remembering things from seven years ago when you were possessed, too."

Date: 2009-04-07 04:16 pm (UTC)"Doctor Jones," she singsongs, pushing her shades up on top of her head. "Delivery for you, one hot oh hello." She comes up short as she sees Veronica, no small amount of surprise on her face. "Am I interrupting?"
no subject
Date: 2009-04-07 04:30 pm (UTC)"Ah... crap."
To Fiona: "Not at all. Hi there. Come on in."
During a round of hearty cheering from the crowd, unhappy little storm clouds appear over his players, while Veronica's have cheerful musical notes dancing over their heads.
"Don't get cocky," he asides to Veronica. "That was a lucky shot."

Date: 2009-04-07 04:38 pm (UTC)Red flag? Meet bull.
Veronica smirks at Indy. "I make my own luck."

Date: 2009-04-07 04:48 pm (UTC)Well then.
"Hi."
no subject
Date: 2009-04-07 04:55 pm (UTC)"Fi, this is Veronica. Long time Milliways friend."
"Vee, if you hadn't guessed, this is Fiona."
"I was just telling her about you," he says to Fi. He concludes with a heart-melting wink. "All good, I promise."
no subject
Date: 2009-04-07 05:01 pm (UTC)"Nice to meet you."
no subject
Date: 2009-04-07 05:11 pm (UTC)"You too. I'd say call me Fi, but with both Vee and Fi, I guess Fiona'll do for now." She looks up at Indy with a bit of fire in her eyes. "Don't want to confuse him too much, do we?"
She plucks an invisible ticket from his shirt front, eyeing it for a moment before tucking it in her pocket with a wink.
